Decisions, Decisions...


Dear Vendors:

Yes, we've narrowed it down. No, I'm not going to tell you how just yet.

And while its always nice to see you folks, coming by to chat isn't going to have any effect on anything.

There is an innate sales management philosophy, well-known to be useless, but vendors everywhere can't ignore the siren song...it can't be summed up by the following: "constant face time, under the guise of 'I just happened to be in town', will somehow magically influence decisions to your side of the equation." Never does, never will, but companies never cease.

Imagine the following...The "A" team comes in, provides all answers to the best of their ability and the product's ability...then leaves with the comment..."call me if you need me, as I'm booked the next 90 days with evaluations and installs, and I may forget to call to check in."...just wondering how this would appeal to people making a decision?
